TERRAIN

Forested dunes typical for coastal areas in Latvia. Primarily open pine forest with good visibility.

Map scale 1:4000, contour interval on the first day 2m, on the second and third day 2.5m.

PUNCHING AND START ORDER

Competitors can start at any time chosen by them, observing a two minute interval between competitors. ToePunch punching system will be used for the sprint and PreO courses, with ToePunch chips provided by the organisers. ANT will be used to record the time and answers in timed controls and for TempO.

The organisers will provide pin punchers for competitors who do not have their own.

CLASSES

PreO
  • OE - elite class for experienced competitors regardless of their physical ability
  • PE - elite class for experienced competitors who are physically challenged
  • JE - junior class (born in year 2007 and after)
  • OB - open class for beginners
  • PB - beginner class for competitors who are physically challenged
  • JB - beginner class for juniors (born in year 2007 and after)
TempO
  • E - open elite class for experienced competitors
  • JE - junior class (born in year 2007 and later)
  • B - open class for beginners
  • JB - beginner class for juniors (born in year 2007 and after)

PRIZE GIVING

The winners of all classes on each day and the 1st-3rd place winners overall will be avarded prizes.

The overall results will be determined by calculating the number of points scored by the competitor on each day and summing them together. The score on each day will be calculated as follows:

In sprint and PreO courses – by dividing the number of correct answers of the competitor with the best result and multiplying it by 100. The answers on timed controls in PreO will not count towards the score.

In TempO the best result in the elite and beginner classes will be subtracted from the maximum possible time (maximum allowed time in all stations plus maximum penalty time) to get the coeffient K. Each participants score will be calculated using the formula 100 - 100 × (competitors time - best time) / K.

The results of competitors in the junior classes will also be included in the results of the open classes.

ENTRY FEES

Entry fees (price for all days / price for a single day):

  • Elite classes OE, PE - 15€ / 6€
  • Juniors and beginner classes JE, OB, PB, JB - 10€ / 4€
Online entries

The entry fee for competitors who also participate in other orienteering disciplines in Kāpa 2025 is 10€ / 4€ regardless of class.
